What is globalization?

1. Summary of "What is globalization?"
 Robertson and White said that the question 'what is globalization?' is very general and specific. There are general sides and specific sides. Many people try to analyze globalizatio systematically, but still many people regard of globalization as contested concept. With Velho's aspect, globalization can be considered as the direction in which the whole world is moving. And Globalization was discussed by that name in sociology and anthropology in the late 1970s and early 1980s. But the idea of globalization is not fully enter academic until the late 1980s or early 1990s.

This term only began at 1989. Even in the late 1990s, there is antiglobalization movement. The idea of globalization is stand from simple observation that the world seem to becoming a single place. And this affected many things.

 The most important part of the globalization is increasing connectivity. Also, global consciousness runs in complicated ways. But the most important thing in here is the significance of the relative neglect of the latter in favour of the former. There are three major dimensions. There is the economic, the political and the cultural. And 'social' is another dimension. But none of these are more important. And recently, the concept of glocalization is used. And It is important that not concretize globalization.

2. New, interesting, unusual items learned
 I thought that globalization is only gets similar. But there was other aspect of globalization. In class, we saw the video about globalization. At the video, a man told us that the world never be the same. Even development of transportation and telephone. I realize that the world is much bigger than I thought. Now we can eat food all around the world, we can learn another language easier than before and we can go to other countries in one day. But we are never same. There always will be difference. I've never thought about that. We are still different. Some actions polite in my country can rude in other country. This is the most interesting item I learned in this class. And I didn't know the word 'glocalization'. I think this word is very interesting. Still, I never felt that world is local. So I want to know more about this concept. What is different from globalization.

3. Answer to "What is globalization?"
 I think globalization is understanding. People get to know other cultures and accept it and become similar. I think globalization is always happened. Recently, I studied about Korea history. And I knew that there were always exchange cultures. People always want to know about other culture and globalization is not newly made, but always has been. There are always cultural differences. But the difference is getting smaller. And get to understand other culture more by contact many cultures.
