What is globalization?

1. Summary

 

   Our script explains 'What is globalization?' explicitly to us. We were already familiar with several words like 'global village' or 'globalization'. Some academical discussions of globalization have been occurred from 1980s. In them, there is not just view of sociology but other aspects like anthropology that is an essential element for explaining of globalization.

   Due to development of technology, several places of our world can interact with other places vividly. Globalization makes our world an integrated region which was independent site originally. These changes can make parts of world to interact each other. So some problems in a country is not just their own one now. Because of interaction, today, specific activities in a nation exercise an influence to other.

So we can define globalization simply through this text. Globalization is a process of global connection through complication and acceleration. This is not just an unification of physical spaces but it is a change(integration) of many parts of our life such as economy, politics, culture and society. So this can be explained with Increasing connectivity and global consciousness. In text, economic, cultural, political globalization are treated as getting same importance. Also, there is a social globalization. It is important to treat equally these typical globalizations.

   For example, We can feel that cultural globalization affect to our everyday life intuitionally. Because it is our everyday life. On the other hand, if we don't have an interest, political or economic globalization can be felt alienated relatively. But there are many cultural examples which came from economic power of nation and political status.

 

 

 

2. What was interesting / What did you learn

 

  Before I read this text, I just knew abstractly about globalization. Even though it is not fully understanding, I know explicitly more than before. Particularly, It is impressive that globalization is divided into four types and these interact each other. So this learning make me think about my own life which have occurred globalization. We are always exposed on this but we are harder to recognize if we don't think about it earnestly. Thus, globalization is going along well. These learning point tell me that my life is connected organically something like globalization. Also, that operates not just my family or friends but also above them globally.

 

      

 

 

3. Discussion Point

 

   Prior to this, I learn about globalization which has became major part of our life. It is true that globalization let us convenient and help. However I think about a side effect of that. In politics, Korea interact with other countries closely. Especially, if those nations are advanced country or a neighboring country, they exert an massive influence to our country. Sometimes there are cases that Korea receive unfair treatment in this relationship. In that time, Koreans resist to that by protesting.

   In sociological aspect, a nation is a sum of the public so they have to protect public interest and guard people's life. Occasionally, Korean administration is overly self-conscious when we negotiate some important issues in globally stream. Korea has often suppressed people who have contrary belief. I don't want Korea fall behind than other countries in globalization. However we should have to find the optimum in relationship between Korean and other nations.
